The Nurturing Nest was founded in 1989 by Kim Zehnder. As the mother of a young child, she found that quality early care & education for the infant and toddler groups was underserved in the Miami Valley. This provided the motivation to open a center focused on continual growth and quality improvement.
Eleven years later, Mrs. Zehnder relinquished ownership, so that the Nurturing Nest could become a non-profit center and benefit from the many advantages available after the transition to non-profit status. The Nurturing Nest is now owned by its consumers, governed by a board of directors, and led by the Administrator Kimberly McBee.
The Nurturing Nest celebrates over 30 years of serving the local community with quality early care & education, and in that time has earned a number of national, state, and local awards. The Nurturing Nest is located in Butler Township and provides early care & education services for children six weeks old through 3rd Grade.
Our mission is to provide quality child care to compliment the child's home life by providing love, safety, and a sense of security through a developmentally appropriate practice that guides the young child's social, emotional, intellectual, and physical growth.
Our goal is to create a nurturing environment that promotes the positive development of children cognitively, socially, emotionally, and physically. Our understanding of child development, and our understanding that children are always learning, guides every action and interaction; both routine and spontaneous. Our actions and understandings are grounded in the rich history of sound, peer-reviewed, widely accepted scientific research into child development rather than solely on personal speculation, epiphany, or tradition. Our continual broadening of our own knowledge of child development and developmentally appropriate practices translates into continual program improvements which ensure each child experiences an overwhelmingly positive early education; providing a firm foundation for personal success in life.
Our teachers complete training hours that go above and beyond the state requirements in order to provide the best quality care for your child. We provide ongoing professional development opportunities to each of our teachers, as well as constant support from our administration and curriculum specialist. Our teachers are supported in their personal development as well as their professional development. You can trust that the education and care of your child is in nurturing hands!
Teamwork is essential to the success of our organization. Our team is comprised of board members, staff members, parents, and children. The relationship between each of us is vital to our success. We must treat each other with trust and respect.
We follow the principles of Developmentally Appropriate Practices (DAP) as outlined by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) to ensure each child's optimal development.
Our services are the end result of our efforts. As our services are viewed, so too are we viewed. To achieve and maintain customer satisfaction, the quality of our child care service must be our number one priority. We must strive for excellence; providing better services than our competition.
We will conduct the day-to-day affairs of our operation in a socially responsible manner with respect to the National Association for the Education of Young Children's (NAEYC's) code of ethics.
We will be financially responsible by ensuring competitive rates and quality services through efficient use of resources.
