Early Pre - Kindergarten Assistant Teacher

Responsibilities:


1. Child Supervision and Development

  • Actively supervise and interact with children to ensure their safety and well-being
  • Support the lead teacher in implementing age-appropriate activities that promote early learning and development
  • Encourage positive behaviors and help guide children in resolving conflicts respectfully
  • Foster independence in children through modeling, encouragement, and consistent routines

2. Curriculum and Instructional Support

  • Assist in preparing classroom materials, setting up activities, and cleaning up after lessons
  • Participate in group activities such as circle time, music, art, and storytime
  • Reinforce learning concepts through play-based experiences and hands-on activities
  • Observe and document developmental milestones and behaviors as directed by the lead teacher

3. Daily Routines and Transitions

  • Support smooth transitions between activities, including meals, toileting, naptime, and outdoor play
  • Assist with self-care routines such as handwashing, toileting, and dressing
  • Maintain a calm, supportive presence during daily routines and respond to children’s individual needs

4. Communication and Team Collaboration

  • Work collaboratively with the lead teacher to maintain a consistent and positive classroom environment
  • Communicate effectively with children, coworkers, and families in a respectful and professional manner
  • Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and parent communication as needed

5. Health, Safety, and Environment

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom environment
  • Follow all health, safety, and licensing procedures and protocols
  • Report any concerns regarding child development, safety, or behavior to the lead teacher or center director


Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED; additional coursework in Early Childhood Education is a plus.
  • Previous experience working with young children preferred.
  • CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • A nurturing and patient demeanor.

  • Provide support during transitions (e.g., arrival, departure, meals, naps, and outdoor play)

  • Maintain a clean and organized classroom environment
  • Follow all center policies and licensing regulations related to health, safety, and sanitation
  • Assist with diapering, toileting, and handwashing routines as needed

4. Communication and Teamwork

  • Collaborate with teaching teams to ensure consistency and continuity of care
  • Communicate effectively and respectfully with children, families, and coworkers
  • Participate in team meetings and professional development as required

5. Flexibility and Reliability

  • Provide coverage in various classrooms and age groups based on daily staffing needs
  • Respond to changing priorities and support the overall functioning of the centerQualifications:
